Mangrove Crab Labs, working in close synergy with the Jepara Brackish Water Aquaculture Fisheries Center (BBPBAP) as technical advisors, deployed a joint team to evaluate the vast coastal potential of Cilacap.
The expedition specifically targeted the aquaculture ponds and dense mangrove ecosystems within Kampung Laut, a region historically renowned as an optimal natural sanctuary for mud crabs. This comprehensive on-site assessment serves as a direct, concrete follow-up to previous capacity-building training programs.
Cilacap was deliberately selected due to its immense ecological promise. The overarching goal of this assessment is to determine the region’s readiness to adopt an integrated, eco-friendly silvofishery model a system perfectly designed to boost local fishermen’s livelihoods while actively preserving the natural green belt.
